The Sneaky Way to E-mail an Editor

If you want to e-mail a magazine editor but don’t have her address, don’t fret — I’ve compiled the e-mail formats of some of the bigger publishing companies. Of course, there are always variations, such as when an editor has a hyphenated last name…but this list will still help in many cases. You can find more in the Renegade Writer Markets Wiki under each entry.

Rodale (such as Prevention, Backpacking, Organic Gardening, Women’s Health, Men’s Health): firstname.lastname@rodale.com

Meredith (such as Fitness, Better Homes & Gardens): firstname.lastname@meredith.com

Time Inc. (such as Health, Cooking Light, Money): firstname_lastname@timeinc.com

Hachette Filipacchi (such as Woman’s Day, For Me, Car & Driver, Elle): firstinitiallastname@hfmus.com

Condé Nast (such as The New Yorker, Self, Gourmet, Golf Digest): firstname_lastname@condenast.com

Ziff Davis (Such as PC Magazine, CIO Insight): firstname_lastname@ziffdavis.com

If you know of any others, please share them in the Comments section! [lf]

Thanks, Linda! As far as I know, Hachette Filipacchi is no longer publishing For Me, which is a shame.

Thanks for the reminder! I actually wrote this post a while back. Oops!

Thanks for the list. Companies do have strange email structures that is for sure. The worst part is that emails include both the first and last name and some email adresses are really long!
