Who here blogs?
We’ve let our blogroll get out of date, so I’m curious: who here blogs and what do you blog about? And what is your favorite blog about blogging? Mine is Darren Rowse’s ProBlogger.net — it’s a good mix of posts about blog writing and the tech/marketing side of blogging.
Give us your answers in the comments section below. [db]

I’ve been blogging for seven years as a personal blogger. But you know, it’s gotten me gigs. I blog regular everyday life stuff including writing, getting work, homeschooling, etc. but I’ve pretty much cemented a reputation as an adoption blogger. At least that’s where Guy Kawasaki put me. I’m cool with that.
I do! @ http://www.victoria-e.com
I blog at The Writer’s Technology Companion. ProBlogger is a great blog on blogging; I also like Liz Strauss’s Successful (and Outstanding) Blog, for a somewhat offbeat view of blogging, and NorthXEast, for its great practical posts.
I blog for hire.
But I also have my personal blog — thursdaybram.com — where I talk about the business aspects of freelance writing (stuff like invoices and taxes, rather than query letters and interviewing techniques).
Kept one a few years back, and I just recently got back into it.
Unobstructed Creativity
Over the past year, I’ve really gotten interested in creativity and the creative process. I’ve done TONS of research and plan to continue doing so.
It’s kind of been of hiatus, but I love Gateway Blogging
I blog about reading and writing in the general Charlottesville, Va. area at http://cvillewords.com — author’s appearances, new books, the Virginia Festival of the Book, etc. Plus some personal stuff. I also contribute to a discussion forum for readers and authors at http://bookballoon.com.
My favorite blog about blogging is probably http://lorelle.wordpress.com/.
I just finished writing my morning post on http://www.NeverBeenCool.com when this came across my RSS reader.
My blog is a little unfocused… it’s pretty much a repository for whatever thoughts I had at the time. I try not to do the whole online diary thing, but a little bit of that creeps in. I suppose you could call in a “humor blog.” I totally crack myself up.
I blog at http://www.urbanmusewriter.com. Sometimes I blog about random things, but it’s usually related to freelance writing.
Well, let’s see, I actually have three blogs.
http://www.punctualityrules.com (Punctuality Rules) which is about writing, manners, and basic civility
http://www.btt2.wordpress.com (Booking Through Thursday) which is a weekly meme about books and reading–a new question gets posted every Thursday.
http://www.chappysmom.com (Chappysmom) which is primarily a knitting blog, but also where I chat about books, cooking, spinning, vacations, my dog … all that random stuff.
And, who DOESN’T like ProBlogger??
I blog about getting published as a fiction writer, with a smattering of freelance writing stuff at coffeeandcritique.blogspot.com. I’ve discussed how to get a critique group started (and keep it going without nuclear explosions and machine gun fire).
I find blogging dangerous. I come up with plenty I want to talk about, but it tends to cut into my regular writing if I’m not careful. I do love it, though.
Though I started blogging about my foray into the freelance writing world a while back (you might remember A Writer’s Blog) I really decided that wasn’t for me.
But I’ve been blogging about breast cancer for 1 1/2 years now; my passion and dedication to raising awareness keeps me motivated in that niche. I doubt I’ll ever stop!
I blog about freelance writing for the most part. I don’t usually get into personal stuff but here and there I will if I just HAVE to share something or (more likely) if something annoys me.
waa.loudandskittish.com – tends to focus more on general technology, though freelancing makes it way into the ramblings.
I blog at http://www.quietrebelwriter.com, where I like to discuss freelance writing success for writers, and creativity for all. As far as resources, I have a long list of writing blogs I check out, but definitely read ProBlogger and DailyBlogging Tips.
I blog about the lighter side of my life and my writing:
http://alysonhill.wordpress.com
and I’m not being a suckup (I swear) when I say that this is one of my fave writing blogs, also The Writers’ Technology Companion http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheWritersTechnologyCompanion. I guess they aren’t blogs on blogging per se, but I’d rather read the odd post about blogging on a writing blog site, than read blogs on blogging all the time.
I began my blog, Christie’s Corner, to figure out how I felt about food. Sounds silly, but it was an exercise for a creative writing project and the blog took on a life of its own. It provides a creative outlet and has paid for itself many times over with assignments.
I also started a blog for the local chapter of our national writing association so we could post upcoming events, share their thoughts about writing and show editors our areas of expertise. It’s only a couple of months old, but it too is growing.
I find I only read blogs about blogging when I want to find out how to do something. I’m a perfectionist and can easily get caught up in doing the blog “right” and don’t want to stifle the creative juices too much.
I write about music — mostly Celtic, folk, Americana and the like– creative practice, the business of music, and related subjects at http://www.musicroad.blogspot.com. It’s also a showcase for my photography, though I rarely write about that directly. The blog has been nominated for, and occasionally won, a few awards, and is with a news aggretor now too, so we’ll see how that goes. I also contribute to Series of Tubes, a really eclectic site concerning music video.
I like Pro Blogger too. Not about blogging per se, but I also sometimes like to look in on Ian Christie’s Bold Career stuff.
I blog about dating as a single mom… http://www.singlemomseeking.com/blog
The core here is: what happens when you make your private life public on a blog?
My blog is a network of other single parents who are learning the ropes what to do and NOT do.
Problogger is my fav, too!
I blog about strange and amazing art at http://inventorspot.com/writers/diana_eid.
That blog has gotten me many writing gigs, and I love the topics I can write about.
Wow, these are some pretty cool blogs! I have a much bigger bookmarks file and more feeds thanks to this.
I’m blogging — with a friend — at thehaikudiaries.wordpress.com. It’s been great fun so far and, even on days when I don’t get to do much writing, writing life one haiku at a time gives me a nice little creative zing.
Has anyone used blog posts in lieu of clips or as part of a portfolio? What about getting blog sponsorship based on solid site visit stats?
Thanks much!
Goodness, I’m coming to this one late. I blog about backwoods life in Finland (www.ahousecallednut.com). I’ve learned so much from ProBlogger and can certainly recommend that site for anyone interested in starting a blog!
