National Novel Writing Month begins tomorrow

So who here is participating in National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo) starting tomorrow?

Gulp. I am. I can’t believe I’m doing this, considering I’ve got a bunch of other projects begging for attention, but I’ve had a story idea nipping at my heels for the last year and I want to explore it. What better way to do so.

I’ll be Twittering my progress, so if you’re jumping in the pool too, just follow me and I’ll follow you. We can all egg each other on. [db]

Good luck to you this year! I’m not participating but admire those who are. My writing project schedule is just too full right now. But I’m sending out good vibes to those who are joining in this writing marathon!

  2. Yay NaNoWriMo! I’m so in over my head as well, but eff it – it’s time to focus, join in with the other masochists, and stretch the writing muscles. Here’s to a successful first week (and subsequent weeks) of insane amounts of writing!!

  3. I am! First year for me. I got up early this morning and have finished 3,000 words. 3,000 down, 47,000 left to go. Good luck to all my co-NaNoWriMoers!

It is my first year also. I’ll get you on twitter soon as I can, though I often can’t check it during the day.

This is my first time signing up with NaMo, but the idea has been rolling around in my brain for several years now. I completed Chapter One this morning, while sitting at a popular cafe and sipping on a cup of cafe au lait. It came in at just under 1,000 words.

Between now and the end of the day, I plan to get crackin’ on Chapta Two. So far things are going smoothly, but 50,000 words is along ways away. My made problem will be finding the time to complete the project.

Anyhow the idea that I am writing a novel is kind of entertaining and I am having fun communicating in various places about the project (NO, this is not a distraction)

    Good luck to everybody.

Me, but I’m being a NaNo “rebel” and it’s only very loosely a novel. I need to use this month to do a large project that’s already taken way too long, so I’m dancing with it in that I’m going to be using the writing to explore the project, where it’s going, almost in a Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance way. The writing will be drivel, as my writing for NaNo usually is, but at least it should probably help me to get back on track!

Well, I’m a bit of a NaNo rebel and a former NaNoWriMo winner…and the founder of Write Nonfiction in November. Yes, that’s right. I got tired of no one giving us nonfiction writers something to do in November, so I challenged nonfiction writers to start and finish a project in 30 days. No word count. You can join NaNoWriMo and count there if you like. Just start and finish something nonfiction — a book, an ebook, a proposal, an essay, an article, whatever you like. And while you are at it, learn something about nonfiction writing and publishing by reading the Write Nonfiction in November (WNFIN) daily blog. Last year I wrote it alone, but after that huge brain dump I asked some expert guest bloggers to join me this year. (I should have thought of you! Maybe next year you’ll join in?) Anyway, I invite you to join the fun at — or at least come read the blog — http://www.writenonfictioninnovember.wordpress.com.

And, no matter if you are doing NaNoWriMo or WNFIN, happy writing!
