  1. My Twitter account is http://twitter.com/bringthefamily – it’s a companion to my family travel + fun at home blog, BringtheFamily.net. I post interesting links, little things our family is up to, tidbits related to my blog’s subject matter, and links to new blog entries.

    Hi Linda!

I’m a Twitter convert, and would definitely welcome more followers. On Twitter, I’m @JennyCromie.

I didn’t think too much about Twitter at first. But I have to say that I’ve really made some great business connections in the past couple of months.

In fact, I received two inquiries just this week about possible freelance assignments through people I just met via Twitter. And the traffic/pageviews on my blog have also increased since I started utilizing Twitter.

It’s a great way to meet other people who do what we do for a living, and it’s also a great way to build a bigger network and community.

  3. Hi Linda – I’ve been “following” you since the old 1099 Magazine days when you used me as a source in several articles about independent creative types. Twitter has made if much easier to follow you with the posting of your “tweets.” I’ve been making use of Twitter for about 2.5 months.

Most of my “tweets” are related to logo design, graphic design, typography, branding, self-promotion, and marketing – or my own article, blog and book writing. Occasionally I wander a little off track with “tweets” about travel, food, wine or my gardening.

  4. I’m @jchutchins, and use the tool to engage my fan base, network and promote my fiction and other online/podcasting projects.

  5. I twitter about some geeky things, some mundane things, and often use the 140 character limit to see what kind of literary and/or comedic punch I can pack into a tweet!

I also use it to inform my followers when I post a new blog, which increases my volume of readers. In fact, I clicked on your tweet about this new blog post, so I know it’s an effective tool. :)

I Tweet about a large range of subjects but I’ve been focusing a combination of pop culture, social media, and creativity stuff. Surely there’s something useful there. :)

  7. I’m at http://www.twitter.com/ksawyerpaul and I love it. When I’m not sure what’s going on in the world, all I have to do is spend 5 minutes on twitter and I’ve got the basic ideas. I have about 250 followers and I’ve been doing this less than a year, so I guess I’m doing pretty well.

I’ve been really enjoying your blog, btw. Very insightful stuff.

  8. Janine Adams says:

I tweet! I’ve just been doing it for about three weeks and am appreciating it more every day. I’m a professional organizer (and former freelancer writer and past and current FLXer) and tweet primarily about organizing and productivity with a little knitting thrown in there.

  11. Joanne says:

I’m pretty new to Twitter. I was using it before, but gave up on it far too soon, I’m afraid. But just today I signed up again and am looking forward to seeing what happens.

I plan to tweet about the “cultivating” side of writing – the subtle things that fuel our ideas. And other tidbits as they come along. (I’m a huge Beatles fan, so I’m sure Beatles news will find its way there also!)

  12. I’ve gone back and forth with Twitter, but I’m currently in a “love it” phase. I think it has to do with my recent download of TweetDeck – very cool! I like Twitter to send interesting links about writing or just general stuff. I tweeted the great clip from the Daily Show on Monday, in which we learned that the attacks in Mumbai were perpetuated by “unbelievable mothereffers.” Funny is cool :) I tweet at: http://www.twitter.com/QRW

  13. Kristen King says:

I didn’t know you were a Twitter-er! I’m following you now. :) I tweet about writing projects, crazy things my dogs are doing, and random things I see, hear, or think during the day. I supposed I should be strategic or something, but it’s more stream of conscious and less deliberate. I do have twitterfeeds set up for my blogs, though.

Thanks to your blog, I’m now an official Tweeter! (er… Twitter? Twitter-er? Tweeter-er?) Clearly I have much to learn–lingo included!

I’ll be tweeting about the trials and tribulations of jumping from full-time television and online news reporting to full-time freelance writing! Check me out: RachelWriter.

  26. To quote a friend (in real life and on Twitter as @divamover), yes, I finally “drank the Twitter Koolaid.”

I started tweeting in earnest a few weeks ago, although I set up my twitter account last summer: @writingtravel

Not so good for writing productivity but great for connections, writing assignments, breaking news, and general amusement.

Hi Linda. I tweet (now there’s a verb I never imagined I’d use for myself…) at http://twitter.com/lizathewriter, posting links to blog entries, thoughts on writing, status updates, and so on. My main reason for joining was to connect with other writers, as I enjoy the camaraderie of the writing community.

  31. Laura Tosney says:

Also Tweeting… @Lauratosney. Would love to build up a bigger writers-presence on my twitter! Mine’s about pretty much everything + a lot of grumbling about Gordon Brown and Co. Would love to hear from more writers!

  32. Jacqueline says:

I was one of a panel of bloggers recently. Another panelist said with disdain (I thought) that HE was a WRITER and had “no interest in writing in sound bytes for this ADD culture”, etc…

My position was (I hadn’t yet joined) that I had just learned about it, been urged to use it by my niece and thought, (a) I’m not changing my writing to that 140 character format, or (b) just writing about self serving or inane things (e.g. just ate ramen); and (c) if it brings new readers to my work who find me through a different channel WHY NOT give it a try?

I like and some days, I love it. No work directly from it, but I have found a couple of new kindred spirits who share interests and help when I ask. And, I have gotten new readers.
