I rarely get writer's block but recently did for an article assignment that was less than inspiring, and for which I felt a bit insecure. Both of those things made it tough to write my 250 word story.

To get over it, I just started writing the facts and slowly the article came together. While I was doing it, I accepted the fact that maybe it wouldn't be the best piece I ever wrote but at least it would be done. I would then be free to write more of what I truly enjoy.

I just had to prove to myself that I could do it. So, I suggest, as Linda does, just write something, it will change what happens.

Don, I'll have to do some thinking on that! There are two posts (in the sidebar on the right side of this page) about how to slog your way through boring assignments that might apply. But the only time I have writer's block is when I'm working on an article lede...and then I simply start in the middle of the article and come back to the lede at the end. By then, a lede will often come naturally from the rest of the article.
