Let the Universe Do Your Writing for You

By Linda Formichelli

You’ve been there: Blocked, not knowing how to end that article. Stalled, not wanting to do the marketing you need to do. Frustrated, not sure what task to tackle next.

I’ve been there too. And a very smart person let me know that when she feels this way, she imagines that the universe (or God, or whatever higher power you may believe in) is working through her.

I tried this myself: I just let go and opened up to feeling inspiration do its work. To continue the spiritual theme, it was like a miracle. I don’t have to market, write that article, make that call. The universe is doing it through me. I’m just a conduit for great work to flow through.

Resentment vanished. Stuckness disappeared.

Maybe it’s all psychological. Who cares? It works.

If you try it, comment below and let us know how it went.

Another technique that works for me is just to go for a walk for 10 minutes.
When I get back to my desk, I’m full of writing ideas all over again.

  2. Great article, and timely too. I’m dealing with that exact problem right now. Thanks for sharing something so inspiring.

I pray over most of my articles and ask God to give me the right words to say to make each story a blessing, whether it mentions Him or not. That means making each story 100% accurate and interesting and informative. He’s always there for me. Thanks for this opp to express that dependence on Him in this venture.

Love this post! Take the anxiety out of doing what you love and just let it happen. I have felt this effect, though have never consciously performed the recommended meditation (or prayer, or whatever). Next time I feel that block a’coming, you can bet I’ll take a few extra moments to allow inspiration to do its work.

I have totally done this. First time was in college. I was the only freshman in an upperclassman class. I got an A+ on that paper — the only A in the class. Clearly God is a great writer. ;)

I’ve done it on a couple of articles, too!

Wonderful reminder, Linda. Thanks. It feels so great to be a channel. :) And I love the photo too.

  7. Are you referring to Marie Forleo by any chance? I was listening to one of her presentations earlier today and she said the exact same thing. :)

Anyway, I am behind this idea 100%. I believe that a higher power is working through me and that the Universe is rearranging itself to help me achieve my goals. (And I gotta tell you, I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for these beliefs. )

    • Too funny! As I was writing this post I looked up the phrase “Let the universe work through you” to see if it had been done much and I saw that it is a pretty popular phrase! I actually got it from my own life coach. Glad you agree with the idea!

  8. Love it! Step out of your own way and let the forces that be carry on! You are so right and, as always, your post comes at the perfect (dare I say “divine” lol) time :)
